This campaign matters, not only to newcomers to Canada and Toronto, but to all residents of our city. Voting is a right and a responsibility, and Canada's voting laws have changed over time to reflect our population and its diverse needs. We believe that allowing permanent residents to cast municipal ballots for mayor, city council, and school board trustee will make local government more responsive to their needs, and therefore to the needs of the city as a whole.
